About

Say It with Symbols is a caregiver-driven, mission-focused small business dedicated to improving communication, dignity, and quality of life for nonspeaking adults—and the caregivers who support them.

Hi, I’m Randi Sargent, caregiver, guardian, mom, and advocate. My own experience caring for my son, who has significant communication and intellectual disabilities and never developed speech, taught me how important it is for every person to have a way to express their needs, choices, comfort, and concerns.

That lived experience inspired me to create Say It with Symbols in 2018.

We create adult-appropriate, picture-based AAC communication books and boards designed to help nonspeaking adults communicate when words aren’t available. Our no-tech tools are simple, practical, and created for caregivers, by caregivers—whether they’re used at home, in a hospital, residential setting, day program, or other care environment.

Communicating Is Caring

Caregivers shouldn’t have to rely on guessing or charades to understand someone they care for. A picture can provide a meaningful choice, answer, request, or way to say, “Something is wrong.”

Our goal is simple: help nonspeaking adults have a voice in their own care and help caregivers communicate with greater confidence and compassion.

Communication is more than convenience. It is dignity, choice, independence, and a fundamental part of person-centered care.

Say It with Symbols is committed to making communication supports easier to access, easier to use, and respectful of adults and their unique needs.

Because everyone deserves to have a say in their care.
