Communication and Visual Aids Help Students Transition to Community Life
Leaving the familiarity of school and transitioning to community living is a big step for older students with communication difficulties, autism, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, brain injury and other developmental disabilities. Transition age special education students will likely need some visual supports to help them gain the skills they need to live, work, volunteer and enjoy new community activities with greater independence. There may be a whole new set of people to talk with! This selection of visual supports and communication aids are designed to help with this important transition. Ideal for young adults, high school special education teachers, day program staff and group home caregivers. These work great as no tech back-ups for AAC users when their device is not charged or no wifi is available.
