Our no tech, easy-to-use compact picture communication album helps adults with speech challenges communicate their basic needs, comments and choices to family, friends and caregivers anywhere!

Our compact Adult Picture Communication Album is an ideal portable size for users who want their communication aids with them at home or out in restaurants and community activities. Users simply point to the pictures using a finger or stylus to indicate their message. Adults with speech difficulties from aphasia, stroke, spinal cord, brain injuries, cognitive disability and autism will appreciate being able to communicate anywhere during recovery.

Make your own personalized communication album using using the 28 pre-printed communication boards included, specifically created for adult situations. Select the boards you wish to use with input from the user. Then trim them scissors to fit and assemble into a discrete, non-medical looking album provided (your choice of color). The book is a small, convenient size, approx. 5" x 7" so it can easily travel with the user in a purse or wheelchair bag.

What's in the Album?

Our Adult Picture Communication album includes 28 pre-made, topical picture communication boards, including 330+ pictures to choose from. Each communication board offers 12 - 1" adult-appropriate simple, colorful drawings. Users simply point to the pictures to indicate their choice.  The boards come preprinted with the pictures so you can start using it ASAP!

Topical picture boards enable users to communicate and indicate choices about their feelings, health, assistive devices, basic needs, visitors, places to go, activities, exercise, personal care, food, beverages, grocery shopping, health & beauty aids, meal choices and other choices to support activities of daily living. Also includes are boards for About Me pages, yes/no, WH questions, alphabet spelling boards, numbers and comments. Extra blank pages are provided to personalize the vocabulary. Comes with an non-medical looking leatherette album of your choice (select from color options above). We reserve the right to substitute album color depending on availability. These small size communication boards work best for a user who can understand and point to a picture using a finger or stylus, and will not be confused by many choices on a page. If the user has vision, comprehension and movement limitations and would benefit from larger pages and pictures, please consider our Big Picture Caregiving Communication book.

Includes a guide to Introducing and Using a Picture Communication Book with Adults, written by Christine Derse, CCC-SLP, M.Ed.

Dimensions: finished size is 5" x 7" x .75"

Customer Comments:

"Highly recommended!!!! What a useful tool for my mom. She absolutely loves it. She has aphasia from a stroke and has tried many communication pages but nothing was as easy as this little book. It is separated into small groups which is easy on her eyes and helps her focus better. It has completely changed her life and has given her somewhat of a voice again. Thank you so very much for this!"

"A family member has severe aphasia and this gives her a tool to communicate when the words won’t come out correctly. This is precisely what I was hoping for, and I appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into the picture selections. Every case is unique and the extra blank pages for just what your user routinely wants to say are thoughtful."

The quality is good, pictures nice. Disappointed that there are not enough pages in the book to put more pictures in.

    Portable adult communication book

This did not come assembled or even cut out. We had to cut out the pages and add them to the photo album. I do really like the pictures and the options, but I didn't really want to do it myself.

    Picture Communication Book

Posted by Evangeline on Sep 19, 2020

I am writing this from Malaysia on behalf of my father who had a stroke with aphasia. He seems comfortable using this book because it is simple to use, with everyday phrases and words in pictorial form that he chooses from. He usually points at pictures. The book is small and not heavy, it can be easily placed on his bed. It also looks professional and suitable for adults, given many communication booklets in the market are tailored for kids. I wld like to thank Randi and the team at Say It With Symbols for shipping this book to my father in Malaysia.

    Symbol book with removable cards

Very useful. Mom had a stroke and it is helping her to identify item, emotions, and needs. The caregiver speaks another language. The book also helps them to communicate.
